HTC STATUS, THE NEW FACEBOOK PHONE DEBUTS ON AMAZON FOR $.01

The long-awaited Facebook phone is finally here. The all new HTC Status with onboard Facebook button and integration with Facebook-specific features joins the long line of 2010 and 2011 hit products released by this game changing Taiwanese company that only three years ago was hardly on the scene. Due to be released at a very affordable $49 through AT&Ts website, the specs on the Status, owing in name to the Facebook nomenclature “status update”, are actually pretty nice for a phone overall, and in no way is this a Facebook-only phone.

Amazon actually has the new HTC Status on their site today to purchase for only a penny ($.01) for all customers both new and existing upgrades.

And any phone with the intuitive and user-friendly Sense user interface (UI) that is without argument the best in the mobile business is instantly worthy of consideration for the discerning smartphone shopper. This is the smooth, fast UI that Apple’s Steve Jobs is trying to legally block from inclusion into U.S. phones. He openly decried that it is a great UI, and will cost Apple’s iOS market share. That in and of itself should be enough of an endorsement as to how enjoyable and smart the Sense UI is, but the entire feature set of the HTC Status is admirable too.

With full, physical QWERTY keyboard located directly below the 2.6 touchscreen, a 5 mp rear-facing camera, VGA quality front camera for video chat, Wi-Fi, GPS, and Bluetooth, there are plenty of options other than logging into Facebook. With a single core Qualcomm MSM7227 800 MHz processor and 512 MB RAM / 512 MB ROM, this phone will not outrun a Thunderbolt or Atrix, but it has more than enough power to handle videos, movies games, surfing and Facebook fun. MicroUSB and microSD slots are onboard, and Flash 10.1 support with 16 million colors means unrivaled graphics and web page rendering.

Physically the phone somewhat resembles an old school Blackberry, and making the keyboard large and easy to use was really a smart move by HTC. The 2.6 inch display is plenty big enough, and at 4.50 x 2.54 x 0.42 inches and only 4.23 ounces, this value-priced Facebook smartphone won’t make a dent in your pocketbook, or your pocket. Buy the HTC Status for only $.01 today.
